The volume of poems ”Twilight of Romanticism” written by the author Matei Alexandru Dăianu is unconventional because it has 2 parts: the one with rhyming poems and the one with unrhymed poems.

Through poetry I translate experiences and events, however banal, into words. I like to say that the poet writes what he cannot live and the man in the street lives what he cannot write.

I started writing poetry at the age of 13, when I was very passionate about astrophysics and I had found out that Eminescu also dealt with cosmogonic themes in his poems. I found it interesting and started to write. In fact, I discovered an aptitude, that of writing poetry, because it's something you can't force yourself to learn.

It was a direct result of my psycho-suffletal structure. I've been writing ever since.

The oppositional relationship between the two parts of the volume is best seen in the opening text, „On Love”, and the concluding text, “The Twilight of Romanticism”. The former conveys disbelief and dethrones the concept of love in a crude manner typical of postmodernism, while the latter intentionally conveys optimism mixed with longing and mystery, and a description of the romantic in my vision.”
